Dave’s Anabolic Blueberry Oatmeal

Makes 1 Serving

Ingredients

- 3/4 cup oatmeal
- 8 Egg Whites
- 1/2 scoop (15g) of Chocolate Protein Powder
- 2 teaspoons of Pure Cocoa Powder
- 1 teaspoon of Splenda
- 1 tbsp of Flax Oil
- 1 cup of frozen Blueberries
- 1/4 cup of water

Directions

1. In a big bowl, mix All the ingredients (except for the frozen blueberries)
2. Cook in a microwave for about 3-4 minutes (cooking time vary from one microwave to the other) – stir the mix 2 minutes after cooking has started (so the mix doesn’t stick or create chunks)
3. Once the mix is cooked, add the frozen blueberries, mix everything and enjoy :)

Good question about the oatmeal amount. I was thinking wet.
How do you get your picture posted on that small square? Upper right side.

    Hey Dave
I’m from Brasil and I like so much your recipes. But sometimes it is hard for me to do them becouse some ingredients are difficult to find here (some examples: peanut butter, splenda turkey and buffalo). But I try to do all of your recipes, my next try will be the chicken nuggets.
PS:I’m sorry about any mistake on my english.
    See you soon.

dave is this reciept for woman or men omg this alot of food heheheh

    • Dave Ruel says:

hi Joanne… there are no recipes for men or women per se, we can all eat the same food.

The only thing is that you will have to adjust the amount of food you eat… usually, half of this recipe is a good serving size for a woman’s breakfast :)

Dave, tried this for 1st time this morning. I feel in love with it! I didnt have the blueberries, but thats ok. It was still great! Just one question. 8 egg whites = 1cup? I also did the Banana Bread shake. It was good, but mine came out too liquidy. I’m thinking 350ml is too much? I may try milk instead of water next time. I dont like the taste of water in my protein shakes. I used Old Fashion oatmeal, wondering if that is a mistake? Looking forward to more Dave! Keep up the great work!

Looks good. But could you tell me of an alternative to microwaving?
    Thanks!

  7. Lance says:

Faster than a regular oven would be a Nuwave Turbo oven. They are about $100 in Canadian Tire on sale an I recommend one highly. I too do not like to microwave too many things in the microwave after seeing some European and Russian studies on how microwave food raises an immune response in the blood shortly after digestion. It actually changes the molecular composition of food and water. Similar to how Hydrogenation changes oil from something healthy into something unhealthy.

The Nuwave oven will not be as fast as a microwave but it will be faster than the regular oven and it will not change the basic composition of the food. It comes with racks for fat reduced broiling and I find it is very easy to clean.

Thanks for the recipe. I will try it out.

    Hi Dave
I don’t like using a microwave…any ideas how I can get around this??

  9. Deb says:

Hi Dave, Great recipe, but, as a trainer, I’d like to see recipes that are a bit lighter, in terms of calories, for my females who are trying to loose weight. We ladies just can’t eat that many calories, particularly if we’re in our 30-40’s.

I have shared your site with my clients, though. Love your recipes!

    • Dave Ruel says:

Hi Deb! It’s actually very easy to adapt any recipe for your caloric needs, example, you can just cut this one in half and you have to make a 290 calories breakfast :)

  10. Peter says:

Hi Dave, Great stuff but was a little disappointed to see Splenda in the recipe. I would encourage the use of a stevia product which is a non chemical natural plant sweetener solution. Also, bad press has recently come out on Splenda.

    • Dave Ruel says:

Hi Peter! In the video I use Stevia… I left splenda in the recipe as another alternative as not everyone have access to Stevia.
When it comes to sweetener, I encourage the use of Stevia as much as possible but Splenda is still ok in my kitchen as it is still better than sugar ;)

    Dave,

Great recipe…was the first one I tried from all your recipes.

Just one thing. Can you use a wooden spoon next time? The metal spoon and bowl sound makes my teeth hurt lol

  12. Dominic says:

Hey Dave, just curious, sometimes I don’t have egg whites, have you (or anybody else) ever tried this with a few whole eggs instead? If so, how many, 3 maybe? If not, do you think it would work? I can vouge for the excellence of this recipe with egg whites, at least, haha.

Btw, when I do have egg whites, 1 cup = 4 egg whites, so that might be why some people are confused about the number…I guess it just depends on the brand :) .

    Hi dave…
I tried this today. My God its a lot of food in one go.took me 30mins to eat it all.

It would probably be easiest to prepare this at bedtime and just cook in the morning.(for me)

    cheeers dave.

    Hi Dave,

I’m training to be a personal trainer, and still find your info top class.

I have one major problem and wondered what your view would be, I work nights 8pm to 7am with traveling my day becomes quite long i try to train for a couple hours most days before work.
my problem is with what to eat before the gym, i wake about an hour before i leave for the gym and at the mo i eat pasta on its own!! not great i know,

What would you do in my position? (again great posts keep up the good work mate)

  15. Joe says:

Hey Dave. Firstly, thanks for the recipe. Basic and quick, yet effective and tasty! Just made this for the first time, made the mistake of overcooking it and it turning into chunks which was much harder to get down!

Quick question, is this possible to do with milk? If so, is there much difference in taste and texture?

    Thanks again.

    Joe

  16. Dave Ruel says:

probably but never tried. Just replace the water by milk, I’m sure it’s delicious (adds a bit more calories but that’s your call :) )

  17. Dan says:

Dave, can I use normal egg whites rather than liquid egg whites?

  18. Portia says:

hi Dave, i am not an Oatmeal fan, but this recipe looks delicious and im definately goign to try it. thnaks
